The combination of swimming and sunshine always makes me so hungry...anyway...Jonas had a taste of one, and oh boy!! We created a monster! (a smoothie monster, that is!) he not only gobbled up the one he was supposed to share with Daddy--he drank an entire second one! He wouldn't let go of it, and if I tried to take it to have a sip, he went nuts...so sharing will be one of our next lessons:) Fast forward to today....as I was looking through my freezer, I saw several frozen baby-food cubes that Jonas had not yet eaten and was unlikely going to at all...he is not interested in baby food anymore, and honestly getting him to eat healthy is sometimes a struggle too---it used to be so easy, so I have had to get creative...all these new veggies and their textures I suppose are part of the challenge...Anyway, after thinking about what I could do with these cubes and have them not go to waste, I had an idea...what if I pureed all of this frozen baby food together with some fruit to make a smoothie??? Well, I pureed the carrots and the fruit, tasted it, and then decided to add some of the avocado...and whammo... a very healthy smoothie...a weird color, but nonetheless, a smoothie....I had previously bought these plastic cups with lids and straws (because Jonas never took a sippy cup, we went right to straws---which, I might add, was a great decision---it is so easy, and he doesn't even need a special cup, just a straw:)... I filled one up, and he LOVED IT....that cup was drained in a few minutes, and he wanted more...!!! So, I froze two for later...hopefully this can become a daily routine. Actually, I am hoping to try to have him drink one everyday--- he is getting tons of good stuff in there---all fruits, veggies, and I simply add a little water to make it a little more drinkable---the result...a happy, healthy toddler (who doesn't even know he is drinking avocados:) Give it a try with your little one too!! It is also really easy to just buy frozen veggies and fruit and defrost them and then puree all together...ENJOY!

My Healthy, Happy Toddler:)
Hey all you Moms and Dads...(and anyone else that has a picky eater at home:) I am so excited about a new discovery I made today....a little background first....well, while I was in Rockford last week for the wedding, we went to the country club to go swimming, and while we were there, of course after working up quite the appetite...we got some smoothies for a snack.

You are such a good momma Claire! I'm going to put that tip in my back pocket for when Ryan gets there - I am excited for him to eat real food!
When you get a chance for a breather and things start to settle down again, I would love to get together!
Claire I was told by Rachel that you and Jason take Jonas camping a lot and I was wondering if you have any advice for us or tips for us? We are going camping in just a few weeks for the first time with Josiah...I'm really excite but have no idea where to start with what to bring for him. What do you use as a sleeping bag sort of a thing? blankets? we are going in to the bighorn mountains
I love the idea...hopefully we will try it soon! (when I stock up at the grocery store). I bet Bryce will eat it!
