Thankful thoughts....

My mom is leaving today, and I am so sad to see her go. We had so much fun:)--It started to seem so wonderfully normal to see her bed in the den and hear Jonas happily yell "Mormor, Mormor!" from his bed in the mornings. She helped me with countless things throughout the house----she is the true laundry champ, she organized my pots and pans (and various other things that needed organizing:), made us food, was a constant source of support and encouragement for me, and has sweetly, tenderly and faithfully loved on Jonas and Freya all throughout the 9 days she's been here. It has been so sweet to see the two "Janes" get to know each other better:) We have done lots of shopping, eaten lots of yummy food, had many sweet times for conversation and talking through life and just laughed alot and loved being together. It was delightfully fun to be snowed in together during the storm on Saturday---she and Freya got lots of Christmas cards done while Jason built a snow tunnel for Jonas, we made and frosted Christmas cookies, and my Dad and Jason even tromped through the snow to Little Caesar's for pizza when we were still stuck at 7:00 at night:) They were ready for a task; cabin fever sets in pretty early with some people I guess! The time with my mom flew by so quickly, and I had been looking forward to this for so long and now that it is over, I can hardly believe it. I do feel blue today---Freya is two weeks old and I am wondering where the time has gone....the craziness of the holidays is feeling like it is kicking in, and I so don’t want these days of soaking in my new little girl to be over. December 1 seems like yesterday. Why do babies grow so fast and why does life pass us by so quickly?? Help me Lord to slow it down a bit and soak in your grace and goodness throughout each and every moment of the day. Thank you for protecting us during the fender bender yesterday---and thank you for giving me such a patient and sweet husband that never once got mad at me but was just thankful for our safety. I am truly blessed. And thank you Mom for making the trip up here and for giving selflessly of your time and love during these precious days. I will never forget what fun it was to have you with us---we miss you already.:) And in honor of you, I will get things out a little ahead of time before dinner so they, "Won't be so cold!" :)

Oh Claire, I'm so glad your mom was there for so long. I know the feeling of being blue when she leaves. :-( I pray things will still be delightful for you...
