Freya Jane Olson is 3 months old! I can't believe it---I really can't! The time has FLOWN---and it is a little scary to me as she has already changed so much!
1. She is growing like crazy.Somehow, even though this little lady doesn't seem to eat for very long, she is gaining the weight that would indicate otherwise! Honestly, friends, I sometimes think it is a miracle that breastfeeding works and that she is growing and thriving even though she literally nurses for 2-3 minutes most of the time (and sometimes less)! Jason and I joke that whatever she is getting is "magic milk"---- I feel so weird telling this to the nurse at my pediatrician's office when she asks..."So how long does she eat on each side?" (The typical response is 15-20 minutes or so, (Jonas was more in this ballpark)). I guess Freya's efficient----anyway, I could drive myself crazy if I think about this too much because it simply doesn't add up. When Moms who formula feed tell me how much their babies eat (anywhere from 5-8 ounces each time) I just laugh---I don't know how Freya does it, but somehow whatever crazy-not-what-the-books-say thing we're doing is working. She IS growing AND sleeping 8+ hours at night. Baffled. Yup. That's me.
2. She loves people and the action that comes with them.
Lots of action= Happy Freya. Last Sunday, during all that snow we had, Jason, Jonas, Freya and I spent the afternoon at Rock the Cradle---a really neat event sponsored by "The Current" (Minnesota Public Radio)---

It was held at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts and featured an instrument petting zoo (cellos, violins, drums, trumpets, etc. that the kids could touch and try). There were bands, a disco dance, free snacks, puppet shows, story time, and more----but mainly, from Freya's perspective, it featured LOTS and lots of action. Her favorite. She loves constant entertainment, and the more we do, the happier she is. She just loves to watch the busy world go by. A friend once mentioned to me that this makes her the perfect second child as there is always a good amount of action around here! (although sometimes I think she would have loved to have been the 15th child:) We also spent this last Saturday celebrating my Mother-in-Laws 60th birthday at the Waterpark of America, and not surprisingly, Freya loved this too (obviously she didn't get in the water), but she was happy as a clam just watching all the people walk by, listening to the noises of the wave pool and screaming echoing through the slides, and just taking in the general excitement of it all---my little girl LOVES to be entertained. This doesn't bode well for quiet days spent at home, but it does work well when we're on-the-go (which we are most of the time). She takes her morning nap most often in her car seat while Jonas and I are attending some activity or doing a smattering of various errands. And if we don't go out for in the morning for some reason, she is not very happy and most often won't nap at all---so needless to say, we are grateful to finally have a second car again!!
3. She loves to stand, and pretty much won't have it any other way.

When you hold Freya, she wants to stand on something----your lap, the table, a chair, anything. She wants to face out constantly and if you're not moving in some capacity, don't expect her to be happy. Freya Jane Olson, you wear me out completely, but I love you oh! so much and am so thankful that we are beginning to figure you out!

Oh Claire... good to read about your growing girl! I totally hear you on the feeding thing! Summer eats, maybe 10 minutes MAX and I'm constantly wondering if she's getting enough or if I'm supplying enough milk... but, she's growing and has those darling rolls, so I'm assuming she gets just what she needs. It's so different from bottle feedings, but I love it so much more!
Little Freya sounds so busy!! A lot like my Bella. Summer is so chill, it amazes me. I can't wait for our girls to meet - can you really believe it's been 3 months!! Love to you.
She is sweet and spunky at the same time. And oh how she loves her Momma...wish I could hold her more for you but she totally know I'm not you : )
I love her! I saw that pink flowered puppy at BN and almost got it for her...glad I didnt..unless she wants another one, then Id be happy to get her one. :)
