Jonas was born....and I was so thankful after 37 HOURS OF LABOR (Jason was also thankful, as he was the one walking me around the hallways, rubbing my back during contractions, and just not knowing quite what to say when I said, "GET him out of me!!") What a joy these months have been...Jonas has changed so much, learned so much, and made our family into something wonderful:) I am sooooooo thankful that I was able to witness it all--I don't regret not working at all--even though I love teaching and I MISS it so much--and honestly sometimes find myself longing after a good discussion about Tolstoy, Poe or Hawthorne, (or even comma usage:)...but if I had the choice again, I would choose Jonas a thousand times over---I will NEVER EVER have those months back, and I am so glad that we got to spend them together--Jonas and I--day (and night) in and day out...even the fussy days and the sleepless nights---when I look back, I think to myself, it was an adventure, and while I had no clue what I was doing at the beginning, God was good, and He has taught me more about Himself and His grace than during any other 11-month period of my life. Thank you Lord for the gift of TIME with my little boy and may the next 11 months be a new adventure that glorifies You.

Your mother-in-law is thrilled to hear that you have had 11 months of joy, learning, and no regrets at staying home with Baby Olson! I had the wonderful priviledge and joy of spending several years at home with my boys and still can say I have NO regrets! The paint, wallpaper, and things came a little bit at the time later. We really didn't miss them. The Lord was faithful and cared for our needs in His timing not ours. He definately stretched my faith in this area. You are molding your child in the principles of God's word and helping to make him the man that he will become. Yes, with all our frailties, remembering of course (and being thankful for) our wonderful God who picks up the slack and helps us parent as we grow in Him as well! Just think. Jonas is a combination of Johnsen, Renner, Olson, and Sammarco! Phew! What a boy!!!
Looking forward to seeing all three of you soon.
Love, Grandma Denise
