We had a wonderful July this summer. July is my favorite month of the year. I love the heat, I love the patriotism, and I love my Dad, my husband, my brother and my grandmother---all of whom have birthdays during this fantastic month. Here are some pictures from some favorite July memories that I neglected to blog about last month...and, as a side note, this birthday torte was absolutely delicious and my mouth is watering now as I think about it.
Yum. Yum. Yum. Also, this reminds me of how Freya loves flags.
American flags are her favorite...whenever she sees one---up close, from afar, it doesn't matter, she squeals and stares and claps her feet. She could not contain her joy when she noticed this one right within her reach while we stayed in Tomahawk...A true patriot.
While at the cabin, we spent many hours on the dock while my brother serenaded us with his guitar...
...and we all kayaked like crazy of course:) Jonas adored the freedom of jumping off the dock in his life jacket. He just kept doing it over and over again. Repetition is such a sweet companion for our little man. He seldom tires of repeated adventures:)

Also. July means strawberries. This year, Jonas, Becca and my mom and I picked a whopping 24 pounds, and I got busy making jam. Jars of jam have invaded my freezer and that makes me happy. So when Old Man Winter is back in town, I have little spoonfuls of summer whenever I want:) And in honor of strawberries, here is Freya in a friend's strawberry costume. We were going to borrow it for Halloween this year, but she will definitely out-grow it by then, so I thought I better get a picture before it is too late.
I always am sad when July is over because August is right before September which is when school starts. Boo. And my husband goes back to work. Boo again. But I shall not complain long---it is so sweet having him home (I guess we are not home much, so I should say having him around wherever we are:). And even though teaching is perhaps not the most lucrative career of all time (not even close:), I certainly LOVE the 3 months of parenting full-time together. It has been good for our kids and good for our marriage. It took a bit of adjustment at first having him around so much, but we are in a pattern now, and I must say I love that we can bless each other with time, with support, and with double-love and care for these two goons all day long...

Oh August, please don't go too fast!
