Time and Tide wait for no man...

Here we are...best friends since 7th grade...and I just threw this dear woman a baby shower last weekend!! (and it was wonderful, I might add:) Babies....yes, it still does amaze me that we are having children....we are still kids for crying out loud!! Sometimes it takes awhile for me to really process all of this new information....I am 26, married and the mother of a toddler and now Steph will be joining me in this motherhood adventure. My how time flies....years go by, seasons change....somehow we did it--we grew up. It makes me sad sometimes to think about how fast life goes...and I spend so much of it wishing it away...."I wish it were spring." "I wish Jason was done with school." Stop it! Before you know it, we'll be 70 and wishing we could go back. Lord, let me be thankful for each day and each moment because they are so fleeting. These pictures are from my rehearsal dinner the night before the big day....we both wore bright blue, as best friends so often think alike...and I can't believe I will be married 4 years this June. It really does seem like yesterday (only I know it's not, because the dress is a little tighter than in 2006:) Now to get philosophical... did you know that the phrase we hear all of the time, "Carpe Diem" is actually part of a longer phrase in the poem, "Carpe diem quam minime credula postero" – which means "Seize the day, trusting as little as possible in the future." And indeed we should....for our futures are unknowable...full of possibility for sure, but all we can know is the present, and it is a gift from a good God. So again I say..."Self, be content. You don't know what tomorrow will bring..." As it says in Proverbs..."Contentment is a feast without end." Then why am I so hungry all the time?

I love your post! Contentment and trusting in God for THIS DAY has been so close to my heart this past week. It's so easy to think about the future and wish this time away but I want to be seizing the day and living in the present more as well! Thanks for the reminder and for your honesty!
