Saturday snippets...
- The mouse has been captured! We found it dead, sadly, behind the garbage can---I'm thinking Selina wore it to a frazzle, gave it a heart attack, or it simply gave up hope for escape. It feels good to know what happened, but I wish we could have convinced it to go into one of our humane traps where we could have then released it into the wild free of damage. Oh well, it's like the old story of the farmer who tried to convince the little wrens to come into his barn on a cold, windy, winter's night---but he couldn't speak their language, and no matter how hard he tried to coax them into the warmth and safety of the barn, they just scurried away if he got too close, and they ended up freezing to death. Communication is certainly a barrier(an unfortunate one if you ask Jason:) when it comes to the animal kingdom.
- Anyway, in other news, I worked for over 4 hours on my thesis today (got 5 pages done), and just can't tell you how much more I like writing than researching! Ugh! I can't wait to be done, but I am hoping to begin waking early as many days as possible in the next weeks to snag a couple of peaceful hours before the J-man awakes!
- Random funny story--- on Wednesday afternoon Jonas and I went to the bakery to pick up Uncle Michael's birthday cake, and on the way there, we passed a hardware store that had bags of mulch sitting outside in stacks. They were greenish brown in color, and when Jonas saw them, he yelled out, "Look Mommy, guacamole!" :) Wouldn't that be something if we could purchase 50lb bags of guacamole at our local hardware store:)?
- And lastly, here is a cute picture of Jonas in his towel representing all the times I bundle him up (as he says, "Wrap me all the way up, Mommy!") after swimming, and now that we have started them....swimming lessons! He loves them so much, and has consistently impressed the lifeguards at all 3 of the YMCAs that we frequent. I'm excited for those water safety skills to develop as he so badly wants to be on his own in the water. I wonder if Baby Girl will be a fish like her big brother?? :)
