Hey All--my parents made it safely back to our place from the West Coast...and drove through the night again---boy were they exhausted, but as usual, being the amazing people that they are, they didn't hesitate at all to dive right in and play the rest of the day away with Jonas---I love my parents so dearly...they (besides Jason of course) are my best friends, and I love when we can spend time together and share life together. They were so helpful and encouraging these last few days---among other things, they babysat while I went to my Mentor Group, then for MOMS this morning and even into the afternoon today---I wish you guys lived next door:):):)
I have some exciting news...I got a job! Praise the Lord---as many of you know, I have been missing teaching so much (and even feeling somewhat depressed and frustrated that I couldn't be using my education---(now I know that teaching applies to motherhood, and it really does and I am grateful that Jonas will benefit in the long run), but it just isn't the same-- I just needed a venue where I could challenge myself from an academic standpoint, and I think this is a least a small taste of that--I am teaching two Latin grammar classes and a Health and Nutrition class at a private school in Forest Lake (it is a private Christian academy for home schooled students--however many of the students attend classes at the academy all day, so they are not your traditional home schooled students)...It was a great day getting back into the swing of teaching, getting ideas for lesson plans and really wrestling with how to approach these Latin classes---with my English (lots and lots of grammar) background and some linguistics courses (as well as a Bible major) I have some background knowledge in Latin---and thankfully there are so many English derivatives, I don't feel as overwhelmed as I thought I would. It is almost like a puzzle or a game---learning the verbs and the root words and the different conjugations--so I get the blessing of not only teaching but also learning along the way! This is why teaching is such a great profession--you get paid to learn:) Yay for that!
We are having gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous weather here---it has been wonderfully warm and sunny, and Jonas and I have made several trips to the splash park recently--we have to drink in all the goodness of summer while we can:)
Also, my Aunt Jan is home now... Praise the Lord...and my grandpa just flew out yesterday for a visit--pray that their time together can be encouraging and meaningful---God has already done so much for our family through this whole ordeal---His faithfulness is great---all we have needed His hand has provided. From protecting my parents during 4500+miles of driving, to creating the millions and millions of blood cells and platelets that were pumped into Jan's body during surgery... even the surgeon was a believer, so she was able to really resonate with the spiritual struggles that accompany severe illness and trauma--I have been reminded again and again this summer to never take for granted His goodness ... for we have done nothing to deserve any of it, yet, out of his bounty, He continually chooses to pour grace upon grace upon grace upon grace....upon grace.
