Door County Pictures:)

Here are some pictures from our time in Door County over New Years....so fun! We explored the beach, went hiking, went sledding, climbed the tower at Peninsula Park on an incredibly windy afternoon, ate at White Gull:), built another snowman (who might look familiar:), and Jason and I got an afternoon of our own and went out on the frozen harbor in Ephraim around the docks--it is a strange feeling crawling under a dock when you know several feet of Lake Michigan is right below you...
We even went shopping, which is a new one for us...rarely do we choose to do this on our alone time, but it was really fun, and I even got a new sweater that he helped me pick out:) The whole family enjoyed quality time by the fire playing games, reading, talking, and we watched UP....which was so cute and heart-warming....I love weekends like this:) The beach is absolutely beautiful this time of year by the way...while you can't swim and splash around and make sand-castles in the warm sun, the beach in winter has its own raw beauty....these rocks (pic below) that have ice around them look like jewels and icicles form between where the waves crash in and the sand...in years past, we have even had ice caves that we could climb in and explore...the water needs to get pretty rough for this to happen, however:) I love the change in seasons, and it really does make you more thankful for each one knowing that it won't be like it is at. that. moment. forever...Spring will come again, so I will enjoy and be thankful for winter while it is here. It seems refreshing in a sort of way for things to be all quiet and cold and icy....almost like a time to start over...and when the green comes back, it always amazes me. I wouldn't know to be amazed if it was never like this...
