I just have to say Praise God for a church that digs deep into these issues. Praise God for a pastor that is not afraid to speak the truths of Scripture-those that are easy to hear, and some that are not. Praise God for people that want to learn, discuss, and dig into God's Word even when the going gets tough. But, most of all... Praise God for the grace He gives when we are confused and overwhelmed by doctrines, ideas, and passages in Scripture.
God's love is an ocean bigger, deeper, wider, and more amazing than we can or ever will comprehend entirely, and honestly, sometimes we should just stop. there. and BE STILL. That is where I am now. When my mind can no longer contain the vastness and complexities of study, I need to remember to rest on the everlasting arms of a God who has created a story that children can embrace and understand yet scholars and theologians will never fully contemplate.
Here are two verses from a hymn we sang tonight with the group...I LOVE these words...they speak such truth into my heart (as do most hymns:)...may they do the same for you:)
Crown Him the Lord of love, behold His hands and side,
Those wounds, yet visible above, in beauty glorified.
No angel in the sky can fully bear that sight,
But downward bends his burning eye at mysteries so bright.
Crown Him the Lord of years, the Potentate of time,
Creator of the rolling spheres, ineffably sublime.
All hail, Redeemer, hail! For Thou has died for me;
Thy praise and glory shall not fail throughout eternity.
