We had a wonderful weekend with my family in Rockford...we went down on Tuesday night after I taught and returned this evening...it was nice to have a few extra days with Jason having the whole week off! It was great to see family (some of whom I haven't seen since Erik's wedding) and reconnect with some old friends. We went and got a Christmas tree on Friday for my parents at Sinnissippi Tree Farm...
We have been been going here for years and it feel like the end of an era---it is shutting down after this season! So sad...it seems like so many things are changing this year...I know the economy is partially to blame, but why do the good things have to change? Christmas tree farms should always be there!...Anyway, we relished the moments together...drinking hot cider and eating donuts and popcorn...walking around to find the perfect tree, saying hello to the "neigh-neighs"
...and Jonas even got his first glimpse and handshake from Santa! He seemed interested, but didn't want to get too close:) I always love walking around the Christmas tree forest looking for the perfect tree---and Jonas tried so hard to be helpful:)

We even had a picnic lunch--which is impressive for November weather...and Jonas had a blast running down the hill that my brothers and I have loved running down in years past. Oh how time flies...I sometimes feel so old when I look at Jonas starting to do the same things that I used to do, and then other times, I feel so young and inexperienced....I suppose it is good that those feelings alternate one another...keeps me humble and hopeful all at the same time---:)

Thank you Mormor and Mormor for a wonderful week (Jonas refers to both of my parents by the same Swedish title---he hasn't mastered the "f" sound necessary for the differentiation between Mormor and Morfar.

Jonas also enjoyed watching my dad chop up a tree...he wasn't nuts about the chain-saw, but he was quite happy wandering around the yard with assorted soccer balls and showing them to Cooper--the neighbor's dog:)
