Our new computer is currently on its way to us...waiting to board a plane in Alaska right now...isn't it crazy that we can know these details??...I feel like I am awaiting the coming of a relative or something! Anyway, my blog will get a much-needed face lift, and I will be more apt to put up pictures once this beauty arrives!!
Also, I just wanted to add that I finished All Creatures Great and Small today..a fantastic book...heart-warming and real....and since I love animals, and particularly baby cows...like my dear mother (she used to have a cow collection when she was younger--not of real cows, mind you:) The book made me want to live on a farm in the lush green country of England, or since I have been to Ireland and loved it, how about that? It actually was so fun to read this book having seen almost exactly what the setting was like for Herriot...the host family we stayed with in Ireland were sheep farmers and also had cows:) I even got to see and touch a calf that was hours old...:) The way Herriot describes the landscape is so detailed and alive...the sheep grazing the hillsides, the small farms dotting the green fields for miles...the mist in the mornings, the rock fences, centuries old, embedding themselves into the world of green...untouched remnants of history-- (actually, interestingly enough, in Ireland, it is illegal to move or alter these rock walls in any way...they have become like natural boundaries in the countryside) The picturesque world of the book came alive for me and even made me miss our friends in Ireland and tea at all times of the day and the narrow streets and the cute restaurants around every corner...
"O Ireland, isn't it grand, you look like a bride in her rich adornin', And with all the pent up love of my heart I bid you the top of the morning." -John Locke
