This morning was a beautiful sunny morning, and now that Jason and I have moved our bed in front of the window, we can soak in the warmth and the beauty even more...and thus, my morning devotions have been particularly sweet these last few days with all of this sunshine!! Thank you Lord for this November (thankfully making up for the loss of our October due to wet and cold:) I have been doing my reading along with the sermons this month, as I have needed guidance, and it is fun to expand on what you hear on Sunday into the week....so I am in John 6 right now...and two verses really stuck out to me as I was reading this morning...After Jesus has thoroughly offended the Jewish leaders due to his remarks about being "the bread that came down from heaven" (v 41), he goes on to speak about eating his flesh and drinking his blood, and several of his disciples even find these things too difficult to understand and several of them"turned back and no longer walked with him" (v 66)...but Jesus' response to their grumblings is unique in this instance. He says to the Twelve in verse 67, "Do you want to go away as well?" ...he knew that these were difficult teachings... however I LOVE Peter's response... He says in verse 68, "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life..." So basically, he is saying that even though he might have been confused and even frustrated, he trusted Jesus completely. I thought to myself as I read this... "May my response be the same!" Regardless of my circumstances, regardless of the difficulty in wrapping my mind around what seems to be an incomprehensible God who works in mysterious ways, let my response always be, "Lord, where else can I go? You are the truth and the life, and I have no where else to turn because I, like Peter, "have believed, and have come to know, that you (Jesus) are the Holy One of God"' (v 69).
